Abi's Kitchen

Terms of Service

Last updated: September 28, 2026

These terms apply when you use abiskitchenja.com, request a quote, book catering or place a popup kitchen order with Abi's Kitchen ("we", "us"). By using the site or placing an order, you agree to them. Anything we agree with you in writing for a specific event (for example on your invoice) takes priority over these general terms.

Quotes and estimates

  • Prices shown on the website and the instant estimate on our quote form are estimates only. Your final price is the one on the quote or invoice we send you.
  • All prices are in Jamaican dollars (J$). Some of our prices are set in US$ and converted at our current exchange rate, so an estimate may change if the rate changes before your booking is confirmed.
  • A quote is valid for the period stated on it. Menu items and prices may change after that.

Deposits and payment

  • A 50% deposit is due to confirm your booking. Your date is not held until we receive it.
  • The balance is due 14 days before a wedding, and 7 days before any other event.
  • Your final guest count is due by the same date. After that, the count can go up if we can accommodate it (charged at your per-person rate), but it cannot be reduced for a refund.
  • Payment is by bank transfer using the details on your invoice.
  • Please give us accurate details: event date, location, guest count and any access or setup requirements. Changes to your menu or service may change the price, and we will confirm any update before your event.

Last-minute requests

We are happy to help with short-notice events when we can. Because they need extra shopping, prep and staffing, a last-minute request charge is added to the food, service and equipment total, based on how soon the event is when your request reaches us:

  • Requested 8 to 14 days before the event: +10%
  • Requested 3 to 7 days before the event: +20%
  • Requested less than 72 hours before the event (only if we can accommodate it): +30%

Popup kitchen orders

  • Payment is by bank transfer using the details in your order confirmation email.
  • Your order is confirmed once we receive your payment receipt.
  • For pickup, please collect at your chosen time. For delivery, please make sure someone is available at the address you gave.

Cancellations and refunds

If you need to cancel, tell us in writing (email is fine) as soon as possible. The date we receive your message is the date we use below.

Weddings

  • 60 or more days before the event: your deposit is refunded, less an administration fee of 10% of the invoice total.
  • 15 to 59 days before: the deposit is kept.
  • 14 days or less before: the full invoice amount is due.

All other events

  • 30 or more days before the event: your deposit is refunded, less an administration fee of 10% of the invoice total.
  • 8 to 29 days before: the deposit is kept.
  • 7 days or less before: the full invoice amount is due, as food and staff have usually been arranged by then.

Changing your date

You can move your booking once, free of charge, to another available date within 6 months, if you ask at least 14 days before the original date. Your deposit moves with it.

If we have to cancel

If we cancel, or an event cannot go ahead because of something outside anyone's control (such as severe weather or government restrictions), you will receive a full refund of what you have paid, or a new date if you prefer.

Popup kitchen orders

Cancel at least 48 hours before the popup event for a full refund. After that, orders cannot be refunded.

How refunds are paid

Refunds are paid by bank transfer to the account the payment came from, within 10 business days.

Allergies and dietary needs

Please tell us about any allergies or dietary requirements when you request a quote or place an order. Our kitchen handles common allergens, including nuts, fish, shellfish, eggs, dairy and gluten. We take care to meet dietary requests, but we cannot guarantee that any dish is completely free of allergens.

Food handling after delivery

Once food has been delivered or collected, please serve it promptly and keep it at safe temperatures. For drop-off catering, food safety after handover is the responsibility of the host.

Equipment

Where we provide equipment such as chafing dishes, warmers or serving utensils, it remains ours and must be returned in the same condition. We may charge for items that are lost or damaged.

Using this website

  • Please provide accurate information in our forms and do not misuse the website or its forms.
  • The Abi's Kitchen name, logo, photos and text on this site belong to us and may not be used without permission.

Our responsibility to you

We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, and our total responsibility for any booking or order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited by law.

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, road closures or utility outages. If this happens, we will contact you as soon as we can to agree next steps.

Your information

How we collect and use your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica, and the courts of Jamaica will hear any dispute.
